Sporty Summer Roundup

Sporty Summer Roundup

This year we launched ‘Sporty Summer’, giving out 12 grants of up to £800 to help people come together and throw a sporty event in their area. We were delighted to give out seven grants to services across the country, and you can read about how they went below!

Halifax

The Creative Together forum in Calderdale & Kirklees applied for our ‘Get Together’ grant of up to £300. Over 30 people enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon taking part in Olympic-themed sports activities!

“Today has been really uplifting for everyone. Days like this are so special and have such a positive impact for all of us.”

Blackburn

Services in Lancashire were awarded our ‘Sporty Summer Celebration’ grant of up to £800 to bring together 13 services in an afternoon of sports and games.

“We can now use this new equipment year after year and the event is much more accessible to people we support.”

Scunthorpe

Our North Lincolnshire services applied for our Sporty Summer ‘Get Together’ grant of up to £300, using it to hold a Sports Day in the park!

Summing it up, Simon said “It’s been marvellous.” Many people asked to organise another next year, “when it’s a bit warmer” added Eddie.

Wakefield

Wakefield folks celebrated Sporty Summer in style, holding a tailored session so everyone could enjoy being seated indoors. They received the Sporty Summer ‘Get Together’ grant of up to £300, using the money for indoor games, picnic-style food, and football bunting and decorations.

“It’s nice to get people together with the staff team. People loved seeing the carers dressing up and getting involved. It was a brilliant day and people are already asking when the next event will be!”
