Stockport Garden Party
Last Friday, around 70 people attended the Stockport Summer Garden Party! People we support, staff and family members came together to enjoy some summer sunshine, which has come our way at last.
Held in the gorgeous Devonshire Arms, the outdoor space boasted luscious greenery and picnic benches, perfect for everyone to get together and have a catch-up. Hot and cold food was served inside the fairytale-like indoor shed, adorned with fairy lights and gorgeous painted murals.
Grace, Operations Manager and Halima, Registered Manager organised the event. “We plan our summer party every year,” said Halima.
Helen, who we support in Stockport, said “it’s very exciting to meet all new people, and hopefully have the best time ever from Creative Support, and have some fun and food!”
Stuart from Manchester was our resident DJ, playing all the hits which soon got people up for a boogie! The sun was shining, the atmosphere was alive and there were smiles all around as people spent time with their families and friends. Michael said “I like the dancing the most.”
After people had enjoyed a delicious lunch, Grace and Chief Exec Anna gave everyone a warm welcome for coming down on this lovely June afternoon. It was the also the Summer Solstice, so we can enjoy the daylight for as long as possible! Everyone was handed their own personalised certificate, to recognise their exceptional qualities and thank them for everything they do.
Grace and Anna handed personalised certificates to every individual who had attended, to recognise their exceptional qualities and thank them for everything they do! Jamie received his for being “so strong willed and bringing joy to his beautiful home.” Annas received his for “always welcoming everyone with a mischievous smile and handshake”, and Michael’s recognised that he has shown “strong resilience and is a fantastic darts player.” Well done to each and every attendee!
As everyone had come down in their summer best, it was only right to have a Best Dressed category! Andrew won “Best Dressed Man” for his bright blue shirt and colourful flower garland, and Jeremy was runner-up in his exceptional mint-green shirt and sunhat. Congratulations to Caroline, who won “Best Dressed Lady” for her gorgeous sunny yellow dress and cardigan. Runner-up was Susan, who was wearing a dazzling purple cross necklace. All the winners received £10- perhaps to spend on some jazzy garments!
As the day drew to a close, everyone enjoyed a slice of triple-layered sponge cake, topped with gorgeous piped roses.
Helen made a wonderful speech, thanking the staff for making the day happen. “I’ve had a great first summer garden party, and I can’t wait for the next!” she said.
Neither can we, Helen!
