Trafford’s Sporty Summer
Trafford services celebrated their Sporty Summer over the weekend, enjoying a barbecue in the garden and a bit of Zumba! Using our Sporty Summer Get Together Grant of up to £300, the service splashed out on multi-coloured bunting, tasty party food, barbecue goods, and plenty of party games to keep everyone entertained.
From the outside the walls were adorned with sports-themed flags and balloons, so you knew you were in the right place. By following the sounds of party classics blasting from the speaker, you’d end up in their spacious garden, where burgers and chicken wings were sizzling away on the barbecue. Hungrier guests could pick at a selection of crisps, sweets and cakes before the food was ready, and enjoy a good chat under the sunshine!
With the arrival of Zumba teacher Nicky, everyone soon got on their feet for a boogie to some disco tunes, spinning and clapping to the beat. Folks from the Trafford services go to Nicky’s class every Friday, so they were no strangers to the moves! “Everyone knows each other from the sessions, and they love getting up for a dance,” said Nicky.
Nicola was the first on her feet, soon influencing everyone else to showcase their best steps. “I love dancing,” said Nicola. Ian said he enjoys dancing to Bruno Mars the most, but he certainly had the moves for ABBA’s ‘Voulez-Vous’!
After everyone had worked up an appetite, the smell of the hot dogs and burgers was too good to resist. People helped themselves and had a catch-up with their friends from other services. For those who still had leftover energy, there were games of toss the hoop and beanbag throw, encouraging a bit of friendly competitive spirit.
As the evening drew to a close, people polished off the last of the snacks and said their goodbyes – although it wouldn’t be long before they reunited at Nicky’s Zumba class!
