Bromley’s Sports Day in the Park

“Each day I like to set myself a goal to build my confidence. Today it was to attend this sports day.” – Irene, Wandsworth

Supported Living and Extra Care services across the London boroughs received a ‘Sporty Summer Celebration’ grant from Creative Support to hold a sports day. Around 60 staff and people we support gathered in Crystal Palace Park in Bromley to take part in activities in the late summer sun. Some caught up with old friends, whilst sat in the shade of the big oak trees eating sausage rolls. Others had a go at penalty shootout and hoopla.

Susan, a seated exercise coach from Age UK, lead exercises designed to aid strength, balance, mobility, and confidence. As Maureen waved her arms to ‘Night Fever’ by Bee Gees, Support Worker Thandi exclaimed, “You’ve got rhythm Maureen!”

The afternoon ended with handing out certificates and a big round of applause. As people made their way back to the minibuses, many were arm in arm, smiling and humming tunes. It is needless to say the afternoon made everyone feel a little bit lighter.

What a beautiful event – well done everyone! Read the full article and see the gallery here: https://www.creativesupport.co.uk/bromleys-sports-day-in…/

JW Visits Telford Zoo

JW visited Exotic Zoo Wildlife Park in the heart of Shropshire! There were lots of animals to see from different habits such as the rainforest, the woods and the desert.

While the dinosaurs were pretty exciting, John’s favourite parts were holding a turtle and feeding the rabbits. Afterwards, he had a chat with the lovely staff and a tasty burger for lunch.

Nice one JW, sounds like you had a dream day!

Monday Breakfast Club in Tameside

Monday Breakfast Club is a monthly highlight in Tameside. Staff cook a big fry up with hearty plates of scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and beans for just £3 per person.

Everyone loves to spend time together and have a natter while making their way through pots of tea and big piles of buttered toast.

The happiest member of the club is Millie the dog who eats all the leftover sausages. Watch your plates, Tameside!
