Creative Stars – October

Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our service user awards celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.

Congratulations to this month’s round of winners:

High Flyer Award

Gary Jordison, Darlington

Staff are so proud of Gary for making huge lifestyle changes recently. Since the beginning of the year, Gary has been gradually having a big clear-out to get rid of some unwanted items and create a ‘snug’ area in his spare room. One of his favourite items is his train set, which he has made using items he collects in the community to make miniature houses and stations!

His train set now sits proudly in the lounge, where he takes great joy in showing it off to everyone at the service.

Amazing work Gary!

“Gary is a little star.”

Eco-friendly Award

Sven Mclean, Middlesbrough

Sven is very conscious about his local environment and the town he lives in. Every morning, Sven goes out to sweep the paths, clearing them of any rubbish and wet leaves. This is to keep his home neat and tidy, but he’s also looking out for his neighbours and his community so they don’t slip over and get hurt.

Sven makes sure to report uneven paths or litter to the council, and keeps in touch with them to ensure any issues are resolved.

Fantastic work Sven!

“Sven is a true Eco-Hero.”

Positivity Award

Richard B, Doncaster

Richard was nominated for his resounding positivity during a difficult time. Despite waiting for an operation after injuring his ankle, Richard is as upbeat as ever, “still cracking the same jokes” and “having banter with staff and housemates.”

Richard has had plenty of visitors, and everyone remarks about his optimistic nature and positive outlook. Although he is missing his friends at the day service, Richard hasn’t complained once, and is demonstrating incredible resilience and determination.

Everyone is wishing you a speedy recovery Richard!

“Richard is doing fantastic.”

Community Champion Award

Phillip, Tyne and Wear

Phillip is a “very busy man”, working at his local hospital five days a week to make sure all of the important results are delivered on time. When Phillip isn’t working, he splits his time at a local day centre doing outdoor activities, and also leads a cooking class every week at his local youth club!

If this wasn’t enough, Phillip fills his spare time by going on adventures on his bike, riding and kayaking in the lakes. People can count on Phillip to be a helping hand around the service, always with a smile and positive attitude.

Well done Phillip, you’re truly an all-rounder!

“Philip always has a smile on his face.”
