Annual Gala Celebrates the Champions in Our Community

“I felt famous today and want to feel like that every day.”

Last Thursday we held our Annual Gala at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester, celebrating everyone in our Creative Support community who has won an award over the last 12 months.

With around 200 people in attendance, the suite was filled with pride, joy and laughter from the people we support, staff, family and friends.

After enjoying a delicious three-course lunch, it was time to celebrate our Creative Stars Awards, We Care Awards and our Volunteer Appreciation Awards. Winners came to the stage for a group photo and shared a few words about their award.

We also had some fabulous entertainment, including poetry from Carolyn and Tyler, and a powerful cover of ‘Let it Go’ by Anne-Marie in Stockton. “I like to sing because it makes me happy and I hope to make everyone proud at the Gala today,” said Anne-Marie. “I felt famous today and want to feel like that every day.

It wouldn’t be a Creative Support event without a disco, where DJ Errol span the tunes while everyone boogied down on the dancefloor until home time. What a day!

Creative Support Headlines Stockport Pride in Style

“Pride makes me feel alive!”

We were so proud to be this year’s Headline Sponsor of Stockport Pride! Around 25 staff and people we support from across Greater Manchester and Warrington came together last Sunday for a fabulous day filled with joy and unity.

Sara said “Pride means being strong in yourself and other people. I love coming to Creative Support events with my friends, and I love being able to help the LGBTQ+ community. Pride makes me feel alive.”

An individual we support in Tameside last visited Stockport Pride 10 years ago, and they were so excited to make their return. “This is probably the 9th Pride I’ve been to, and I’m going to go to as many as I can this year,” they said.

A Joyous Evening of Nigerian & Ghanian Culture

In Hull, staff put together a Nigerian & Ghanian night of culture, food and dance to celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds of the staff at the service.

Mercy, Josh, David, Michael, Oluwatison, Blessing, Helen, Felisha and Kenhinde all prepared a small speech, wearing their cultural dress and bringing traditional food to share. As members of a church choir, they treated everyone to a wonderful rendition of ‘Amazing Grace.’

“The night was a great success, and overran by an hour because everyone was having such a good time chatting and dancing!” said Kirsty.
