Creative Stars – August

Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our service user awards celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.

Congratulations to this month’s round of winners:

High Flyer Award

Janet and David Coney, Doncaster

Janet and David have spent all year de-cluttering their house, working together to achieve this incredible goal.

Now the house is spic-and-span, the pair can start decorating to their liking and creating a homely feel for their place.

This has been 13 years in the making and staff are over the moon for Janet and David, who have made themselves and everyone else proud. Your hard work and dedication has certainly paid off, and you are a true inspiration – well done!

“This has made everyone around them super proud.”

Eco-friendly Award

Emily, Stockton-on-Tees

Emily is “very conscientious” about protecting our environment, and is a huge advocate for recycling at her service. She cleans all her cartons and tins thoroughly, which is very important for making sure they are all recycled properly.

As Emily has over 100 pen pals, she is always receiving letters and envelopes. Emily makes sure to do her part and recycle all of the envelopes she is sent!

When it comes to food waste, Emily tends to do smaller shops so all the food gets used and she is less likely to have waste. Well done Emily, your small steps are making a big impact, for both your cotenants and the planet!

“Emily sets a good example to the other tenants.”

Positivity Award

Richard, Greater Manchester

Richard is known for being a caring, friendly and helpful individual, keen to support all those around him. Whether it’s being helpful around the house and supporting his fellow cotenants, or becoming a part of the recruitment team to take part in fairs and events, people can count on Richard to be a reliable helping hand.

Recently, Richard has started his journey to become more independent. He first started out buying one item at a time with his support workers. Gradually, they waited outside the shop, then across the road, until Richard was confident enough to go to independently and buy the items he needs. Fantastic work Richard, everyone appreciates your help and support, and they are so proud of your achievements.

“There has never been a limitation to Richard’s achievements.”

Community Champion Award

David and Michael, Whitby

David and Michael are this month’s Community Champions for their “fast-thinking, courage and care” when alerting staff to another tenant in the service who was feeling unwell.

During the night, David and Michael both noticed their co-tenant needed support. They kept calm and showed care and understanding to make sure the person got the help they needed. Everyone is so impressed with their brave actions and ability to act quickly in a crisis. Well done to the both of you, you should be so proud!

“They are heroes of the service.”
