Creative Stars – May

Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our service user awards celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.

Congratulations to this month’s round of winners:

High Flyer Award

Carolyn, Wakefield

Carolyn has come on leaps and bounds with her confidence and independence. She frequently has meals with her fellow tenants, gets involved in shared activities and has even visited other services for Sunday lunch!

Carolyn’s team are so proud of her achievements and have noticed how much she enjoys socialising with her housemates and making new friends.

This is a huge step towards Carolyn’s goals, and she is even planning a trip to London in the summer. We hope you have a wonderful time Carolyn!

“We as a team can see how much Carolyn has moved forward.”

Positivity Award

Ciaran Bevan, Alcester

Always dancing, singing and smiling, Ciaran is happy to do any task with a joyous outlook. Although relatively new to the service, Ciaran has made many friends, and with an infectiously positive attitude he puts a smile on everyone’s face!

In such a short space of time, Ciaran has cemented himself within the service and the wider community. Badminton, craft clubs and the local church are just some of Ciaran’s regular activities, and he loves joining in on cinema trips, picnics and shopping with the other tenants. He does all this with a big smile on his face, bringing the dance moves wherever he goes!

“Ciaran is a great addition to our service.”

Eco-friendly Award

Jordan Scott, Doncaster

Green-thumbed Jordan has been busy transforming his garden at home, growing a colourful array of fruit and veg and sharing his knowledge with the service!

Jordan started off volunteering at his local allotment three times a week, where he learned all about planting produce and flowers. It wasn’t long before Jordan had purchased his own greenhouse, where he grows strawberries, sweet peas and potatoes! He also dug out a flower bed and upcycled his garden furniture to make his outside area a welcoming place to sit.

Jordan has “such pride” in his project and even teaches staff how to grow items of their own. Fantastic work Jordan, you’ve worked so hard and everyone is so impressed with your progress!

“He is really proud of his mini project and I am very proud of him too.”

Community Champion Award

Joyce, Doncaster

An easy-going lady with a love for supporting others, Joyce is this month’s community champion for her amazing sense of community spirit and dedication to those around her! Joyce used to volunteer in a charity shop before COVID, and since then she’s been supporting the elderly on her street with their gardening.

Together with others at the service she has started litter picking in her local area, and is currently looking for another volunteering role to find even more ways to help others and give back.

“With an amazing sense of community spirit, Joyce has become well-known on her street and enjoys supporting anyone in any way she can!”
