Creative Stars – September

Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our service user awards celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.

Congratulations to this month’s round of winners:

Matthew, Doncaster

Since moving in to the service, Matty has made fantastic strides adjusting to sharing a house with other people. Matty has fully embraced this and developed an amazing relationship with his new housemate and staff members.

Previously, Matty created his own cookbook with recipes. He has made the decision to start cooking
again and has shared his book with the people in his service. Not only this, but Matty also made the decision to go back to college to do a catering course and learn even more about cooking.

Matty has made “massive strides”, and never fails to bring a positive attitude around his own learning. What an inspiration!

“He never fails to amaze me.”

Eco-friendly Award

Raymond Salisbury, Essex

Ray’s interest in growing seeds was sparked after entering our sunflower competition last year, and he has grown a sunflower over 7ft tall! Ray is so proud of his achievement, and was enthusiastic about
creating an allotment at his service.

Ray has been very involved in the ongoing care of the plants, watering them and performing quality
controls on the vegetable patch. Ray checks on the allotment each morning, encouraging staff to do
their bit. He’s also been enjoying tasting the delicious home-grown produce, including strawberries, potatoes and runner beans.

Fantastic work Ray!

“Ray is a valued resident.”

Positivity Award

Erika Reynolds, Sheffield

Erika has shown “amazing resilience and determination” through a difficult health diagnosis, enduring many hospital visits, tests and surgeries.

Erika has amazed everyone with her “extraordinary patience and positive attitude”, never complaining and inspiring all around her with her confidence and optimistic outlook. Her staff team are so proud to see her well and thriving, showing her bright personality and enjoying life now she is on the mend.

Well done Erika, you should be so proud of yourself, and you’re a true inspiration!

“We are all very proud of her and her achievement.”

Community Champion Award

James Connor, Essex

James has been working so hard to pursue his dream of working in a café. To get some experience, James searched for voluntary opportunities that will help him socialise and feel empowered to work in the local community.

James loves animals, so what better place to volunteer than a cat café! James has attended four sessions so far and is “absolutely loving life.” He walked into his first day with “such confidence and initiative”, greeting members of the public, serving customers, caring for the cats and “generally presenting with great pride.” He even has a future goal to adopt a cat from the café.

What a fantastic achievement!

“James has taken the role with great responsibility.”
