Merry Everyday! Our Christmas Story

December 2024

We love expressing ourselves in our Thursday morning creative writing sessions and the writing we create is often powerful. After sharing our personal stories about our lives and the ups and downs of Christmas, we decided to produce a book.

There is no miraculously happy ending to our Christmas story. We are not cupped together in the soft mitts of a large man in a red velvet suit. If there are bells, it is not the sound of someone visiting us and saving the day. We are mainly alone on Christmas Day. Some of us eat pizza or pie or cornflakes. But in this time of full front rooms and jolly kitchen discos, alongside despair is joy holding our hands and leading us towards the days when the transport links reawaken and light the way towards normality, friends and routine.

This isn’t a sad story. It’s not even a story of festive hope. It’s just about us and the stories we retell ourselves, the stories that top up our smiles like every other of the 364 days of the year. Merry Christmas everyone. Merry Everyday!

Coproduction and Creative Voices

July 2024

We were invited to the Creative Voices event in Preston at the amazing Creative Space Centre in July to take part and share our understanding of coproduction. The centre is a truly inspirational place to visit with all the staff being amazing and helpful. We are hoping to take advantage of the cinema room very soon!

We also enjoy having our voices heard and are very happy to share our experiences and ideas for change. As we write a lot of spoken word poetry in our creative writing sessions we decided to write a piece which Creative Together Centre Manager Zoe would perform.

“I found it a bit nerve-wracking! However we all encourage each other and aspire to modelling courage and creativity, so it had to be done!” she said.

Here is the piece we shared
