National Volunteers Week
🙋♀️ It’s National Volunteers Week! We want to celebrate our fantastic volunteers and everything they do to support our staff and service users.
Kirsty started volunteering with us last October, since the opening of our Crisis Café in Birmingham. Kirsty welcomes people into the café and helps out with administration and appointments. ☕️
💙 What made you decide to volunteer with us?
“I am currently studying a Master’s degree in Mental health, so it was the perfect opportunity for me to get experience in the field that I am so passionate about! The opportunity was ideal for me as it was flexible around my university timetable, and the company seemed very reputable and one that I could see myself working for.”
💙 What do you enjoy about volunteering with Creative Support?
“I currently volunteer with a few different organisations, but definitely enjoy volunteering with Creative Support the most. I have felt more welcome in this company than any other I have worked for. From the get-go staff have put me at ease and have always done anything and everything they can to support me- I feel truly cared about and part of the team here.”
💙 What new skills have you gained?
“I have learnt so much. It’s my first time working in a mental health service, so I have gained great insight into how they run. But also I feel it has made me develop on a personal level, boosting my confidence, developing my communication skills and overall it has just confirmed and sparked my passion for this type of work even further.”
Thank you for dedicating your time to helping our crisis café run- we couldn’t do it without you! 🌟
