Your Voice Your Story Podcast
This year, the theme for Black History Month is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, which is all about showcasing the traditions, creativity and achievement of Black people throughout history and in the present day.
To celebrate this, we’ll be releasing special ‘Your Voice, Your Story’ podcast episodes with Black staff members and the people we support, who will be sharing stories about their culture and heritage in some special Black History Month episodes.
Mawda
Mawda, Training Administrator at Head Office, discusses her Libyan hertitage and some of the traditions, values and norms she’s grown up with. Letitia
Letitia, a support worker based in Harrow, discusses her roots as a Black British woman born to Jamaican Rastafarai parents. Letitia talks about the things she loves about being Jamaican, from playing Lovers Rock on a Sunday, to the way elders are viewed and respected. Tunde
Tunde, a Support Worker and EDI Champion based in Warwickshire. He discusses his roots and culture as a Nigerian, Yoruba man, and how his experiences living amongst different tribes and in different countries have made him passionate about inclusivity for all. Click here to listen on Spotify.
Chinelo
Chinelo is a Support Worker. In this episode, she talks about her experiences as a Nigerian, Igbo woman. She discusses the New Yam Festival, a cherished part of her culture and community, and lots of other important celebrations and traditions.
